Healthy Hoopie Habits - Day 3: Time in the Word
This is the most sacred part of my morning routine.
Before I check my phone, before I open my laptop, before I respond to a single message—I open the Word.
This intentional time of stillness grounds me. It frames my thoughts, decisions, and perspective for the rest of the day. It gives me clarity in a world that’s constantly trying to confuse and distract.
Life is messy. It’s uncertain. And the truth is, we’re not supposed to have it all figured out. We’re not meant to control everything. But we are given scripture—truth from the One who created us. And that truth gives me what I do need to know.
Why This Habit Matters
For me, time in the Word is a daily re-centering. It realigns me with what actually matters:
→ Love people.
→ Serve others.
→ Chase excellence in a way that honors God.
That reminder is everything. Because once the day starts, life moves fast. The world starts talking. Tasks start piling up. Noise creeps in.
But spending just a handful of morning minutes in truth changes the tone of the entire day.
For me, time in the Word sets the tone. It shapes my posture for the day ahead. It humbles me, encourages me, convicts me, and reminds me who I am and what truly matters. We live in a world that’s loud and fast. We scroll, respond, move from one task to the next. And while we’re doing all that doing, our souls are quietly starving if we’re not being fed by the One who made us.
Prioritize Moments of Stillness
Tomorrow morning, before you reach for your phone or dive into your to-do list—pause.
Take a few moments to breathe. Open your Bible or reflect on a verse. Ask God to speak. Let truth be the first voice you hear.
You might be surprised how much clarity, calm, and focus it brings.
