Healthy Hoopie Habits - Day 15: Stick to the Plan

Stick to the plan.

It sounds simple. But in a world full of shiny new methods, quick-fix promises, and “never do the same workout twice” trends, consistency is becoming a lost art. And yet, it’s the one thing that actually works and one of the only things we can control.

The Truth About Progress

As a coach, I see it all the time: someone gets fired up, starts a training plan, and then three weeks in, doubts creep in.

“Should I try something different?”

“What if this other thing works faster?”

“I don’t feel like I’m improving…”

And so the program-hopping begins.

The problem? When you jump from one thing to the next, you rob your body—and your mind—of the chance to settle in, adapt, and actually get good at something. Strength, skill, health, and even mental clarity all come from time under tension—and that doesn’t just apply to your muscles. It applies to your effort, your focus, and your willingness to stay the course.

What Sticking to the Plan Actually Looks Like

This doesn’t mean never pivoting. There are times when a change is needed. Maybe you’re not recovering well. Maybe life has shifted. Maybe your current plan no longer aligns with your future intentions.

But the difference is this:

Those changes are made with counsel, clarity, and intention—not out of boredom, doubt, or a rough day.

Sticking to the plan means:

  • Showing up, even when progress feels slow

  • Trusting the process, especially when it’s not exciting

  • Training with the intensity you have that day

  • Letting small, consistent efforts compound over time

It’s not always about progression. It’s about putting another penny in the jar every single day.

Consistency > Greatness

The best results don’t come from doing something perfectly once. They come from doing the right thing over and over, even when it’s ordinary.

You don’t need to be extreme.
You need to be consistent.

So whether you're following a 12-week program, building new habits, or chasing a long-term goal—stay the course. Give your effort a chance to work before you decide it’s not working.
