The Power of Showing Up
Most of us carry some version of a dream of becoming someone stronger, steadier, more disciplined, more alive in our own lives. And when that version of you feels far away, it’s easy to believe the small things you do each day don’t really matter. But they do. Confidence isn’t something you wait to feel. It’s something you earn by doing what you said you were going to do.
Showing up means doing it tired. Doing it unmotivated. Doing it uncomfortable. Doing it afraid. Doing it when you don’t feel ready, when you don’t feel confident, or when part of you doubts whether you can even do it well. One of the smallest but most powerful ways I practice this is waking up when I say I’m going to wake up. It seems minor, but it’s the first decision of the day. Keeping that promise sets the tone. Take action first thing and build momentum for the entire day.
What matters most isn’t even the thing you did. It’s that you showed up for yourself in a moment that required courage. Fear is relative. Discomfort is relative. What stretches one person may feel easy to another, and comparison has nothing to do with it. What matters is noticing where you feel resistance and choosing to act anyway. Whether that’s in the gym or in your real life, those are the moments you walk away thinking less about what you accomplished and more about who you became.
Those are the moments you walk away proud of yourself. More confident in your ability to take action. More trusting of yourself to follow through. That is how identity is built.
Keep pursuing life relentlessly.
